Life put in perspective

Boat ride – Siem Reap to Battambang

If you are not in a hurry and have the time to travel around in Cambodia, make sure you catch a boat from Siem Reap to Battambang. An absolute incredible experience!

You will experience first hand how life on and around the water is for the local Cambodia people. There were trading find place in boats, full of colourful veggies, piles of fire wood and other trade ware. What a difference with touristy Siem Reap. Here you won’t be hassled to visit the temples. You just sit down and soak the life around you in. Take time to process it and reflect these experiences back on your own life!

Life put in perspective

Having the blessing to be able to travel and experience different cultures has such a big impact on your life. It changes you from the inside out and puts life in perspective. Although the people living here around the water have a different life to us, a harder life, but what you see as well is family life to the fullest. A women cooking on fire, while her husband is working in the floating rice field, I know right it floats!, some kids are playing around and chasing the happy, snorting house pig.  It daunts on me how time isn’t relevant here, there is no hurry, there is no pressure, simply because they live lower in Maslov’s pyramid. Life is about surviving, having family and enough to eat and drink for that day. What a difference with our stressful life, with all the daily demands of work, deadlines, traffic and running around to pick up kids, do grocery shopping etc.

I am thankful for the life we have in Australia, and an experience like this feeds my soul to look for periods of reflection, family time and thankfulness for the incredible life we have!
